Boot-camp for Young Writers
The 9.9 School of Convergence offers high school students a unique opportunity to learn the craft of writing. The Young Writer’s Camp is designed to meet the needs of motivated students who like to write and who want to take part in stimulating classes in creative and expository writing in order to improve their communication skills.
Classes are designed to be academically challenging and help students develop the technical skills and creative thinking that are needed to be a good writer. Morning sessions focus on writing, while afternoon sessions focus on social and recreational activities that encourage creative thought. Students work on assignments and projects, which may include newspaper features, short stories, character studies, journals, or short dramatic productions. Out-of-class work is frequently assigned for upcoming class activities. Classes are interactive, where written and verbal feedback—from both peers and instructors—help students learn to build on their strengths and work on their weaknesses in writing. The 9.9 School of Convergence is offering its first-ever intensive writing camp, specially created for students in Classes 10-12 and college undergraduates. The Young Writer’s Camp is designed for highly motivated students who want to improve their writing and develop their creative side through a variety of exercises aimed at enhancing their communication skills. This is the perfect opportunity for students to take their writing to the next level and give themselves that extra edge.
Requirements
The Camp is for students who have average or above-average reading and writing abilities. The program is not an English language course. Admission to the Young Writers’ Camp is based on English language skills and a commitment to the goals of the program, and a dedication to the craft of writing.

The Young Writers’ Camp is designed to be academically challenging and help students develop the technical and critical thinking skills that are needed to be a good writer. The workshops will focus on both the fundamentals of writing and the development of each student’s creativity and individual writing style.
