ALUMNI
The alumni are a record of an institution’s past performance. Lucky for us, ours are spread across media organisations in India. This is what some of them have to say about us : |

Why did I choose SoCWithin a couple of years of joining the profession in 2001, I realised that there were was a distinct move in the industry - both news and non-news - for content generation and management that was bringing together a synergy in the media. Content produced for one medium was being used across other media platforms. Not only was this going to help enlarge the reach, but also make it accessible to the user on the medium of his/her choice and more importantly at their convenience. It was then that I quit my job of three years at a news agency to go back to a media school that would provide me with the required skill sets. One look at the course curricula of the School of Convergence and I was convinced that this was the programme that will prepare me for the future. How did SoC prepare me for a career in mediaFor me the School of Convergence was a melting pot of traditional and new media. Without letting go of the basic tenets of writing, reporting and editing, the school combined with it the best of new media technologies, while also keeping firmly in place the media ethics required to be followed in an increasingly synergised yet competitive environment. Not only were my content skills sharpened, but I also learnt my first lessons in media product development and media management at the School of Convergence. How am I currently involved with Soc(guest lectures, career sessions, hiring interns and full-time for CNN-IBN)One of my abiding interest is media education and after my graduation it was again SOC that gave me the opportunity to dabble in it. I have over the last couple of years taught at the school as a guest lecturer, brainstormed with students during career sessions and taken on students at Network 18 (CNN-IBN, IBNLive.com, CricketNext.com) in the capacity of interns and even hired them full-time. As an editor of a website, I am responsible for content and for product development and management. The opportunity to regularly interact with the students keeps me in touch with not only the informed user, but also the future of the media industry, thereby making me a better media practitioner. |

I am responsible for overall brand consistency and ideation for shows that are aligned to the brand image of the station. When was I at SoC?I was part of the batch of 2008.Why SoC?I was fascinated by radio. No other institute could have taught me this medium so extensively. It was a great learning experience. The course was planned according to the latest industry standards. There was greater emphasis on practical knowledge rather than theoretical. All in all, a great learning place! |
